Community spotlight: Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston

Are your kids looking for a safe and welcoming place to learn and play? Since 1893, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) have been offering children ages 6 and up in Boston a place to have fun when school is not in session. So whether they are free from classes for a few hours in the afternoon or on school vacation for weeks at a time, BGCB has the arts, sports, fitness, technology, and leadership development programming that will keep their bodies and minds engaged during downtime.

Today, BGCB serves 15,000 youth through clubs all over Boston, including in:

Take a look at each club’s program guide for details on the fun events coming up this winter for children and teens to enjoy. While most clubs focus their programming on younger children, BGCB clubs that serve teens also have teen centers where youth ages 13-18 can find a place to study and hang out with other teens and seek support from adults who want to help them succeed all year round. Then in the summer months, Camp Harbor View hosts 11-14 year-olds for four weeks on Long Island in the Boston harbor for swimming, sailing, performing arts, and many more activities included in the low $1.25 fee per week. With so many activities to join and free play to enjoy at every imaginable time of year, there is no excuse for kids to be bored – even during the winter when it is tempting to stay cozy on the couch. Plus, membership is only $25 per year for children and $5 for teens. Download and fill out a membership application to get your kids in on the action happening at your local BGCB today.
