One thing we love about Boston is how active the city and its residents are—and how many free fitness activities there are throughout the year. With temperatures slowly on the rise, we wanted to share with you a great FREE fitness series happening across the summer!
Starting June 1st, Boston Public Health Commission, the Boston Parks & Recreation Department, and Blue Cross Blue Shield MA are partnering on the Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series, which offers FREE fitness programming across the summer. The kick-off event will be at Copley Square from 5:30-7:00pm and include free zumba, t-shirts, waterbottles, and more!
Across the summer, the 21 classes will take place in various neighborhood parks, providing numerous opportunities to enjoy your favorite activity or learn something new at no cost! The series aims to increase physical activity across Boston’s neighborhoods while making it fun for everyone.
Classes include yoga, Zumba, boot camp, salsa dancing, and line dancing. There are classes specifically for you and your kids, as well as seniors. Classes vary in intensity and skill level, so whether you’re a frequent gym-goer or just starting out, there’s a class for you. While many of these activities usually require gym memberships, you can try them all out for free! If you’re nervous about trying something new, check out YouTube for helpful beginner videos.
