Every Kid Healthy Week

Happy 5th annual Every Kid Healthy Week, Boston! From April 24-28, 2017, we celebrate school health and wellness achievements! Action for Healthy Kids is a national organization that hosts this annual event that “shines a spotlight on the great efforts our school partners are making to improve the health and wellness of their students and the link between nutrition, physical activity and learning – because healthy kids are better prepared to learn!” Each day, children across the United States spend at least 7 hours a day at school and they eat a minimum of one meal a day there. With that much time being spent at school, it is important that they support healthy nutrition habits and physical activity for our children.

So, how can you get involved in Every Kid Healthy Week?

  • Check out this Toolkit to enlist support from friends, family member, and school staff.
  • Host an event at your school! Like planting a school garden or playing a big game of tag.
  • Pledge to work together to support the health and school achievements of all kids, across the nation!

Additionally, Boston Public Schools are known for their ongoing wellness activities that “actively promote the health and wellness of all BPS students to advance both their healthy development and readiness to learn.” They encourage students, staff, and families to eat well and be active to create healthier school environments. Supporting Every Kid Healthy Week is a great opportunity to join in with Boston Public Schools, other school districts, and organizations across the United States who are working toward keeping our kids happy and healthy!
