The leaves are changing and the weather is cooling down. It is starting to feel like fall – a beautiful season for outdoor exploration in Boston. That means it is time to get ready for a fall full of family fun. We’ll get you started with some activities that will have your family out and about enjoying the season together.
- Play in the leaves: the Arnold Arboretum in JP is alive with color in October. Take a walk through the park to see the hundreds of types of trees in all their fall glory

We’ve got the inside scoop on how to hit the trails here
- Go on a pick-your-own adventure: use this interactive map from Massgrown to find a pumpkin patch or apple orchard near you where family members of all ages can get their hands dirty picking the fruit they will get to enjoy cooking and eating together later
- Pump up the pumpkin: pumpkins are great for you! So once you’ve picked your pumpkins, go all out with cooking them using kid-friendly recipes like the ones we mentioned here last fall
